In a unexpected collaboration that defies usual expectations, the game developer has unveiled an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Questline Disclosed

According to the official release, "An unusual encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where whispers of prohibited rituals and terrifying changes echo through the obscurity." The plot presents a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a secret sect.

The mission focuses on "strange tests and a terrifying adversary" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Transformations

The trailer features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser finishes with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the prisoner, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Rewards and Extra Material

Players who successfully complete the mission will acquire an unique katana together with several artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-based attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Unique arms
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Update

This update also introduces the game's latest no-cost story addition, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature abilities: Naoe reveals a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime properties. The series previously featured a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
